What makes a mother so special? πΉ
Hebrew gives us a clue in two tiny letters β Aleph and Mem.
The same letters spell two completely different words.
ΧΦ΄Χ (Im) β "if." A conditional relationship. If you do good, good things come.
ΧΦ΅Χ (Em) β "Mother." The exact opposite. No conditions. No ifs. Just infinite, unconditional love.
That's what a mother holds β a love that exists beyond expectations, beyond conditions, beyond anything we do or don't do.
The word Χ¨Φ·ΧΦ²ΧΦ΄ΧΧ (Rachamim) β compassion β comes from the word Χ¨ΦΆΧΦΆΧ (Rechem) β womb. A mother's love is literally built into the Hebrew word for compassion.
This is also how Hashem loves us. π
Happy Mother's Day to every mother, and every soul who has held space for unconditional love.
