What makes a mother so special? 🌹

Hebrew gives us a clue in two tiny letters — Aleph and Mem.

The same letters spell two completely different words.

אִם (Im) — "if." A conditional relationship. If you do good, good things come.

אֵם (Em) — "Mother." The exact opposite. No conditions. No ifs. Just infinite, unconditional love.

That's what a mother holds — a love that exists beyond expectations, beyond conditions, beyond anything we do or don't do.

The word רַחֲמִים (Rachamim) — compassion — comes from the word רֶחֶם (Rechem) — womb. A mother's love is literally built into the Hebrew word for compassion.

This is also how Hashem loves us. 💛

Happy Mother's Day to every mother, and every soul who has held space for unconditional love.
